Yesteryear heartthrob Amala has decided to comeback to Tamil, but only on the small screen. She is all set to play the lead role in a Television serial titled Uyirmei. The shooting for the film will start in a couple of weeks and Amala will be visiting Chennai after a long time. “It is always a pleasure to visit the city. Whenever I feel down, I think of Chennai. There is always so much love and warmth that I receive from this city,” says the Agni Natchathiram actress.

“It revolves around the life of 12 doctors and I play one of the leads in that. It is a very interesting script and I just couldn’t refuse,” says Amala to a daily when quizzed about Uyirmei. She was recently seen in a cameo in Vikram Kumar’s Manam. Her last full-fledged role was Shekar Kammual’s Life is Beautiful, a role which fetched her Filmfare award for the best supporting actor. Her last Tamil film was Karpoora Mullai directed by Fazil in 1991.
