Akshara Haasan opens up about rejecting Mani Ratnam’s Kadal

Akshara Haasan, who is awating the release of her debut film Shamitabh directed by R Balki, opens up about rejecting Mani Ratnam’s Kadal two years back. Akshara Haasan was supposed to be launched by Mani Ratnam, but the role was later done by Thulasi Nair which also marked her onscreen debut.

“At that time, I wanted to explore, needed more exposure and was still learning. I had worked as an assistant director in a feature film titled Society, directed by Rahul Dholakia. I was not emotionally and mentally prepared for acting, so at that point in time, I would not have been able to give 100% to the role. Therefore, I excused myself” says Akshara Haasan.
