Ajith’s motivation is the reason behind my position in the industry today: Director Saran

Director Saran holds an important place in Ajith’s career. Both of them have seen hits and flops in their fluctuating careers. In fact, Saran debuted as a director in Ajith’s romantic comedy Kadhal Mannan. Then, he went on to direct Thala’s 25th film Amarkalam and Attakasam, Asal later. In a press meet held yesterday for Aayirathil Iruvar, which has Vinay in the lead role, Saran spoke about how Ajith’s words have always been an inspiration to him when someone asked whether the leading actors he had earlier worked with offered any help to revive his drowning career.

“I stand here as a recognized big director only because I have done films with big stars. I have been part of everyone’s success story at some point of time. Every star has helped me in someway or the other,” says Saran. He went emotional while talking about Ajith and confessed that Thala’s motivation is the reason for his place in the industry. “Ajith sir gave his consent to Kadhal Mannan in two mins after listening to my one-liner”, said Saran and shared an interesting anecdote which Ajith told him. “You have come from K.Balachander sir school. And, it’s your first film. I know there is a fire in you to push the envelope. I don’t want to spoil it by listening to the full story. Do whatever you feel is right and good,” said Thala then.

Apparently, Ajith wanted to work with Saran after their unsuccessful last outing Asal, but things did not materialize later. Aayirathil Iruvar is Saran’s comeback film after a 4-year long hiatus.
