Aishwarya Dhanush talks about her memoir Standing on an Apple Box, a beautifully written memoir in vignettes that offers unexpected glimpses into her life and that of her stupendously popular father, actor and superstar Rajinikanth. Harper Collins has acquired the worldwide rights for the book.
“The idea came about one day to collate incidents, thoughts and memories, to recollect and cherish the many life lessons I learnt from my father. Simply put, to tell a story through different stages and episodes in my life, the highs and lows as seen through my eyes. This seemed simple at first, but it turned out to be quite complex, as you will see. It’s wonderful to be working with HarperCollins India, and I look forward to a long association,” says Aishwarya.
Karthika V.K, Publisher and Chief Editor, HarperCollins India, said she was captivated by the first few chapters that she got to read and was immediately excited about publishing the book. ‘Standing on an Apple Box is full of delightful stories and memories of growing up in cinema-land. It’s intensely personal, but also inspirational in the way it reflects on the joys and difficulties of being a woman in our time.
