AGS Entertainment banned from producing Tamil films?
For the past few days, reports are rife that Tamil Film Producers’ Council has issued a temporary ban on AGS Entertainment from producing movies since they flouted the rules introduced by TFPC for optimizing budget spent on film promotions.
Archana Kalpathi has taken to her social media page and expressed shock over such a move by the TFPC. “Hearing reports that #Ags has been banned from producing movies for overspending on promotions for #ThaniOruvan. Shocked!,” posted Archana.
On the eve of Thani Oruvan release, AGS upped the ante by promoting the film in FM stations, satellite channels and major dailies. It is a clear violation of the recently implemented set of rules by TFPC, says a source. If the ban on AGS is true, it is quite hypocritical considering that Kalaipuli S Thanu had given exclusive interview to Ananda Vikatan for Vinayagar Chaturthi on Kabali. One of the rules suggested that producers should not engage with weeklies, bi-weeklies, monthlies, fortnightlies, quarterlies etc to promote their films. Didn’t Thanu himself flout the rule book already? Doesn’t the giant flex of Kabali that occupies the master space in Sathyam Cinemas amount to overspending on film promotions?
