Filmmaker alleges high-handedness by ‘Theri’ team

A filmmaker named Sathish Kumar has alleged high-handedness by Vijay’s Theri team for snatching his title clandestinely. Few hours after the makers announced the title, Sathish Kumar took to his Facebook page and said, “After putting a lot of thought, I chose the title for my film as Theri and registered it three months back. But, just because the register book is under their control, they have comfortably used my title for their film without seeking my permission. Now, the register book is reorganized to substantiate their claim that they kept the title long back. I’m not going to fight against this. But, had they asked me, I myself would have given the title away.”

Few months back, when the title of Rajinikanth’s ongoing film with Ranjith was announced as Kabali, a debutant director called Sivakumar alleged that he registered the title long back and had finished 90% of his film. Later, Kalaipuli S Thanu said the issue was settled amicably.
