“I’m a die-hard fan of Vijay,” says Rangoon villain
Shree, who is making his debut as an actor in director Rajkumar Periyasamy’s Rangoon, talks to Only Kollywood about his role in a brief chat.
“This is my debut in big screen. Basically am from a cinema background, my father is music director Shankar Ganesh. Grand father GN Velumani has done many movies with MGR and Sivaji,” hints Shree about how cinema has always been in his blood.
“I was working predominantly with Television and have received Best Actor award and I felt it was high time I joined cinema. I’m doing a negative role in Rangoon and it is an important character. Shooting is over and we are waiting for the release. AR Murugadoss is producing the movie. The story revolves around 5 important characters and this is one of the 5 characters. Director has very well balanced the characters in the movie. For long time I wished to do a negative character and it is a different experience for me. I have done a lot of homework for my body language, looks, accent and stunt scenes,” explains Shree about his role in Rangoon which features Gautham Karthik in the lead role.
“I’m a die hard fan of Vijay and my ambition is to share screen with him at least for a shot,” says Shree who is also part of a biggie which is currently under the shooting stage.
Quiz him about the transition of television to feature film, Shree says, “It is a little difficult for a person from television to set foot into the big
screen, especially for someone who has done television serials because you will become stale.”
“Sivakarthikeyan’s case is different because he has not done serials. My friend Deepak also has acted as a hero, but I don’t want to become a hero because I want to be known as an actor rather than a star. I want to live long in this field and my ultimate aim is to become a character artist,” says Shree confidently.
Shree is currently gearing up for the release of his short film J which is based on a true incident happened in Chennai and made at a shoe-string budget of Rs. 40 lakhs. It will be screened in preview theaaters soon.
