10 Endrathukulla is a sloppy road thriller with a convincing second half and at best, can be claimed as a partly watchable commercial flick. Vikram shines in his role with a charming performance and Samantha takes a thumbs-up with her career best role.

Vikram, who comes after a long break from his magnum opus I, takes on a less risky role this time in a commercial entertainer. The film has simple plot with an ordinary narration but racy in parts. The treatment is old-fashioned and makes it a typical commercial Tamil cinema which is often witnessed.

The movie starts somewhere in North India where a caste riot breaks out and then the plot switches to Chennai. Vikram comes with many names – a paid coolie working for one of the local thugs Pasupathi and as usual the star matches his characters well with his body language and voice modulations. Samantha does a typical heroine role. Vijay Milton after his terrific Goli Soda comes up with a mundane script which puts the audience’s patience to test.

The first half just passes muster and if you are looking for the purpose of the story, the search has no end and drags you to the climax to reveal all your unanswered questions. Vikram takes an assignment from Pasupathi to drop a car, not aware of Samantha being the victim for the assignment and in the travel they form a soft romance. On his way, there are several villains working behind just to increase the curiosity of the common audience, but pulling the screenplay till the very end of the climax to reveal the plot is a lot more test to the patience. Why Samantha being a victim for someone in North India and what connection it has with the 40 people getting killed in the initial riot is an interesting twist! How Vikram justifies his actions to Samantha is the story behind the run-time.

The second half is leisurely with the entire story revolving around Vikram, Samantha, Rahul Dev and is packed with action sequences where Vikram shines. Pasupathi as local thug and justifies his role, Rahul Dev as usual comes across as a typical villain and Samantha has a surprise package for her role in the second half. The technical part and the narration are the two weakest points for the racy Vikram’s role. VFX should be real good under compulsion in recent times, but this one had a very ordinary creativity, cinematographer KMB’s work is applause-worthy and the editing is a definite lag. Overall 10 Endrathukulla is a sloppy road thriller with a convincing second half and at best, can be claimed as a partly watchable commercial flick.
