Sweet and soulful

Justin Prabhakaran seems to have put his thoughts on the right chords for Orange Mittai, which has some interesting compositions from start to finish. While the songs sung by Vijay Sethupathi brim with novelty, two other solid melodies complement this soundtrack well.

Straight Ah Poyee: Singer – Vijay Sethupathi

Innovative is the word for this track which is crooned by Vijay Sethupathi himself. Though the lyrics aren’t entirely captivating, what makes this score is the smart use of rock and pipe sounds throughout.

Theeradhe Aasaigal: Singer – Karthik

Here comes a simple but efficient track, which gets better with Karthik’s vocals. Percussion and drums are put to use, without having an adverse effect on the ears. Our PICK.

Orae Oru Oorula: Singer – Vijay Sethupathi

A humorous take on the reign of a lion and it’s musings, with a fox and a rabbit. At many places, it does remind you of a nursery rhyme. However, the inventive attempt must be appreciated.

Payanangal Thodarudhe: Singers – Naresh Iyer, Padmalatha

A completely heartwarming melody sung by Naresh Iyer and Padmalatha, who happens to be the only female vocalist in the whole album. The grandly setup interludes make this a compelling listen on the whole. Another PICK in the album.
