Bharathiraja hints at Sigappu Rojakkal sequel
Bharathiraja’s Sigappu Rojakkal is a cult film. Kamal Haasan’s role as a pychopath is one of his finest performances. While Simbu attempted with a loosely-adapted remake of Sigappu Rojakkal in Manmadhan, there is no official full-fledged remake of the film yet. “I have no interest in remakes. A film can be remade in other languages. How can it be remade in the same language?,” says the veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja.
But, he is all for writing a sequel to a story. In fact, he is mulling over writing a sequel to Sigappu Rojakkal. “I have thought about writing a sequel to Sigappu Rojakkal. How a person who belongs to this generation would react on Sigappu Rojakkal would form the crux of my story. Probably, my son Manoj will direct the film,” reveals Bharathiraja in an interview to a daily.
