Insulting ‘Amma’ is condemnable: Vijay’s speech

Three days back, Sri Lankan Government sent tendered an apology on the website of its Defence Ministry for publishing a derogatory article on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha. “We extend an unqualified apology to the Hon Prime Minister of India and Hon Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,” said a statement posted on the Lankan Defence Ministry website. The entire Tamil film industry staged a protest outside Sri Lankan Embassy today in Chennai and they demanded to shut down consulate in Chennai.

Vijay, Suriya, Vinay, Srikanth, Bhagyaraj, Thirrupathi Brothers’ Bose, V Sekhar, Dhanu, Dhamu, Rajan, Pyramid Natrajan, Senthil, S P Jhananathan, Sarathkumar, Seeman, Sivakumar, Parthiban, Keyaar, Thanu, Amma Creations T Siva, Manobala, KS Ravikumar, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Snehan and Thamarai were seen in the protest.

Speaking at the protest, Vijay said, “Tamil Nadu CM Amma has been doing a stellar job for the Sri Lankan Tamils. On the other hand, SL government is publishing derogatory article on our CM and it is highly condemnable. It’s equivalent our own mother. We strongly condemn this irresponsible act.”
