Modi equates Vijay with Salman Khan

The rendezvous of Vijay and Narendra Modi in Coimbatore two days back took everyone in the industry by surprise. It was last week Modi met Superstar Rajinikanth in his residence on the eve of Tamil New Year’s day. Both of them cited the meeting as apolitical and maintained it as a courtesy call. A reliable source says Modi was willing to meet Vijay also on the eve of Tamil New Year in Chennai, but couldn’t meet since the actor was shooting for Kaththi in Hyderabad.

“When Vijay entered the hotel room, Modi hugged and kissed him and gave him a warm welcome. Vijay was taken aback when Modi spoke about his films. In particular, Modi spoke about Vijay’s Nanban, the Tamil remake of super hit 3 Idiots. He compared Vijay to Salman Khan and said like Salman, the southern star too had earned the affection of scores of kids,” say sources. Vijay was bowled over by how much Modi knew about him.
