Vimanam Movie Review

Samuthirakani delivers a very good performance in this highly emotional drama. Below goes our Vimanam Movie Review.

Director Siva Prasad Yanala’s Vimanam is a highly emotional and melodramatic tale that takes us through the story of a poor father trying his best to take his son on an airplane.

The film starts off by introducing us to Samuthirakani’s character of Veeraiyaa and his son who has a big craze on aeroplanes. The entire film then travels on the troubles faced by Veeraiyaa in his personal life, and how he has to overcome it all to take his son on an airplane for the very first time.

Vimanam’s first half does not have much of flesh, as it introduces the characters and then gets busy with stories that does not matter much to the central motive. There is a track featuring Anusaya and Rahul Ramakrishna which takes the film away from its core of being kid-friendly, and while that track acts against the film, everything else is just about alright. In the second half however, things get serious and move into a better zone. While there could have been a 100 other ways to end this story, director Siva Prasad Yanala decides to take a very melodramatic route which tries to turn the film entirely into a tearjerker.

Technically, Vimanam is just par and there is nothing great to write home about the songs or the score. The emotional bits in the film and Samuthirakani’s good performance are the ones that will make it work for the audiences.

Verdict: A decent emotional drama that works in parts.
