Takkar Movie Review

Divyansha Kaushik steals the show with her bright presence in this cool entertainer. Down goes our Takkar Movie Review.

In the early 2000s, we had fun films like Run and Paiyaa which had a man and woman on the road, with comedy and action to tag along. Siddharth’s latest film in Takkar is a tryout to do something of the same sort, and though it does not fall in the same line, it comes close a bit.

Siddharth plays Gunasekaran aka Gunz, a man from a village who wants to earn money and comes to Chennai for the same. A series of events make it hard for him to earn a good job, and he ends up driving luxury car taxis. On the other hand, Divyanshaa Kaushik plays Lucky, a rich girl who is trying to run out of a marriage that her dad is locking her into. The entire film is about how these two meet, and where the road takes them.

Director Karthik G Krish has a very clean approach to his storytelling, which is packed with dollops of comedy, romance and action. The film is smooth in its narrative, but the events that take place onscreen arent all that exciting and it somewhat wanders without a force.

Siddharth is neat in his part but it is really Divyanshaa who is the show stealer with her bright and lively appearance in the film. Some of Yogi Babu’s one-liners do work in the favour of the film, but it is clear that the film could have done with some better comedy.

Easily, the highlight of the film is Nivas Prasanna’s music which is lit up by five superb songs, making it a memorable album. The composer proves again that he is a terrific pick for romantic films.

On the whole, Takkar is a free-flowing entertainer that turns out to be a timepass ride.

Verdict: A jolly good entertainer that is a harmless watch!
