Peranbu Songs Review

Review Overview

Dhooramaai
Anbe Anbin
Vaanthooral
Sethu Pocchu Manasu

Rich, sweet-sounding compositions.

Yuvan continues shines once again in his purple patch, this is yet another impressive album from the composer. Keeping it simple, he offers ample space for the singers to improvise. His consistency is a delight for music lovers, definitely.

Cast: Mammooty, Anjali, Thanga Meengal Sadhana

Music: Yuvan

Lyrics: Vairamuthu, Sumathy Ram, Karunakaran

Direction: Ram

Dhooramaai: Singer – Vijay Yesudas

Vijay Yesudas takes complete control of the scene here, stressing each word right and strong. Yuvan’s simple orchestrations make this a mellifluous number that’s very smooth on the ears. It’s only in the interludes that he intervenes, especially midway with some electric guitar. Our PICK!

Anbe Anbin: Singer – Karthik

This time, Yuvan picks Karthik for his instantly connecting vocals and excellent pronunciations. The song has a lovely bonfire gathering feel, with the ‘Oh En Magale’ raise getting registered in our minds easily. Next PICK.

Vaanthooral: Singer – Sriram Parthasarathy

A moody and emotional song with Sriram Parthasarathy at his best. Kudos to Yuvan for choosing the right singers all the way, depending on the nature of the song. Might be too close to pathos, but on the whole, another beauty. Flute portions, neat!

Sethu Pocchu Manasu: Singer – Madhu Iyer

The only song with female vocals in the album, Madhu Iyer comes to the fore here. With minute strings as the base, the music gets influenced with tabla occasionally.
