Vijay Awards: DnA bromance, Nayanthara’s top honors & the ‘Favorite Hero’ controversy

Vijay Awards conducted its 10th annual edition yesterday in Chennai’s Nehru Indoor Stadium after a gap of two years. The glitzy event marked the presence of Lady Superstar Nayanthara, Dhanush, AR Rahman, Keerthy Suresh, Anirudh Ravichander, Vijay Sethupathi, Dulquer Salmaan, Karthi, Sayyeshaa, and more.

When Anirudh Ravichander goes on stage to bag the Best Singer award for the song Iraivaa from Velaikkaran, he graciously declared his love for the viral song En Veettu Kuththu Vilakke sung by Kaka Bala from Meyadhaa Maan and said that he would have felt happier had Kaka Bala received the award. Then, Anirudh recalled how he would always sing with Dhanush when the two of them attend an event and called the VIP star on stage. The duo sang Udhungada Sangu, from Velai Illa Pattathari and impressed audiences.

Lady Superstar Nayanthara won the two big categories for heroine: Best Actor and Favorite Actor award for her stupendous performance in Aramm.

Meanwhile, controversy erupted online when the television network decided to neglect the Favorite Hero award which is reportedly won by Thalapathy Vijay. Sources say the award may be given later after the channel received a video message from the star. Dhanush won the Best Entertainer of the Year award for Pa Paandi and VIP 2.
