Stylish Telugu star Allu Arjun makes inroads into the Tamil scene with his grand theatrical release En Peru Surya En Veedu India today, paying heed to his big fanbase in Tamil Nadu who always keep track of his films. Directed by Vakkantham Vamsi, who is known for his writing in the state, the film is a nice commercial entertainer that packs a punch.

Starting off in the Indian army, we are introduced to Allu Arjun as a tough army man who suffers from anger management issues. With two solid fights to start, the film then moves on to it’s plot where Vamsi tightens the screws with the introduction of the film’s best character – Arjun Sarja. Playing the role of a psychologist, the man does a good job in front the film on track, and his scenes with the hero are the best in the film. There’s also something to like in the romantic side with Anu Emmanuel – the writing is lovely in a specific ‘breakup’ scene in the first half where Vamsi cleverly handles a turn table of emotions.

But this impression and flair in the writing doesn’t last too long. Come the second half, the film adopts a cliche ridden route. The intro of the villain Sarathkumar does bring about some fire, but after that, the cycle is quite familiar but in hindsight, should go down well with the masses.

Allu Arjun boils up a terrific performance from start to finish. With a trim look and a tough figure, he exhibits great swag in his action sequences and the songs and scores big in the emotional scenes as well. It’s a huge addition to a normal film which propels the end product up high.

Rajeev Ravi’s camera gives the film what it deserves, with a special mention to the tunnel fight scene and the Lover Also Fighter Also number. Vishal and Shekhar have a good day out down south with the BGM too working out well.

At an aerial view, En Peyar Surya En Veedu India is a watchable popcorn entertainer that despite it’s length and predictability, ends up working fine.
