A middling comedy entertainer

Santhanam maximizes his ability in all forms to put him in hero status and to witness that we all have been watching him closely on how he creates space to climb the charts. Not for the first time though, Santhanam as hero is very prompt and as an audience we have enjoyed him being a comedian is still not able to be flashed from memories and accept him as a lead. But this has happened many times in film industry where they have been doing negative roles or as a comedian and has transformed as hero’s who now are one of lead actors in this industry, all these scenarios has happened before and all it depends on time.

Sakka Podu Podu Raja saw huge lights in promotions and almost holds the entire lead comedian in a complete package to storm it into a pure commercial film. Santhanam a rich, busy person who has all the leisure time to enjoy life falls in love with Vaibhavi Shandilya. All travels soul and sound until Santhanam love is been opposed by Sampath, who happens to be brother of Vaibhavi. A drama is set then by Santhanam with the help of supporting actors to convince Sampath. Did Santhanam succeed in doing so lays the platform for the script.

A typical old story tried to be made in a new format and still gets older makes it lame watch and director Sethuraman has banked his confidence on the artists and left the script in shadows. Normally two things happen when there are huge casts to support the film. One it buries the sorrows and the other it becomes a risk of managing the source. When the contest becomes tougher the script and narration always saves the show besides how old it is, there are always space for liking and Santhanam seems to bank on that and his previous outing as lead proves that.

Apart from showcasing Santhanam as a commercial hero, Vivek put it perfect with his usual timing wits, Robo Shankar and Thambi Ramaiah still can be used better. Sampath justifies his role and VTV Ganesh tries to manage the laughing moments, a little more concentration to the script and narration would have kept Sakka Podu Podu Raja more familiar to the fans. STR’s maiden music trail has been convincingly potted well with the songs and BGM coming as a favour for this full time commercial flick.

Overall, Sakka Podu Podu Raja is a pot made with burned clay that becomes little harder to handle for this generation fans. If you are a person who forgets logic and enjoy cinema even though if it entertain at parts, then Sakka Podu Podu Raja could be your cup of tea.
