A quite engaging village-based entertainer.

PEMT is no big surprise, and can be easily guessed throughout. There is only a simple plot line based on two villages, and a lot of characters. The film is made quite entertaining throughout thanks to Parthiban & Soori, delivering dialogues against each other.

Following his comical entertainer Saravanan Irukka Bayamean, Udhaynidhi Stalin returns with another commercial drama Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam, filled with template elements. The film is no big surprise, and can be easily guessed throughout. There is only a simple plot line based on two villages, and a lot of characters.

Two villages and they have different opinion but still Parthiban manages to control them besides plans to take revenge on Udhaynidhi Stalin’s village, where he was insulted years back. How he does that and what Udhaynidhi Stalin does to prevent him is detailed in a commercial package.

Udhaynidhi Stalin is improvising himself from film to film, this time as a boy next door who is appreciated for his social works and insulted too, for the same reason at times. Parthiban and Soori turn out to be the two takeaways from the film, making most use of the plot line and screen space.

The film is made quite entertaining throughout thanks to these two, delivering dialogues against each other. The screenplay which has been prolonged is a negate, but it would seemingly connect with the audience in the lower centres. Nivetha Pethuraj on the other hand, brightens up the screen whenever she comes in, and fills the time with the help of the songs.

Even with the same textbook followed on commercial cinema, the director has found his space to enclose a message towards the end. A better screenplay and improvised drama would have made PEMT a more engaging ride.

Overall, it stands as a decent commercial flick with some repeated factors.
