Interview with Suriya: “Punchlines in Singam 3 are not force-fitted anywhere”

In a freewheeling conversation with Only Kollywood, Suriya talks about his upcoming outing Singam 3, how the franchise has become a huge turning point in his career, ongoing project Thaanaa Serndha Koottam with director Vignesh Shivan and what audiences can expect in the third edition of the Singam series.

“Singam 3 will be a perfect blend of the first two parts”

When asked about what urged him to take up the third part of the series, Suriya says, “Singam 3 will have a perfect blend of the first two parts. It will have the family values and drama from the first part and the gripping action sequesingam 3 s3 suriyances from the second part. The right concoction of scenes is the highlight of Singam 3. The basic plotline revolves around a real life incident when Tamil Nadu police helped Andhra Pradesh government during the reigns of MGR and NT Rama Rao. I could easily connect to the i
ncident and was impressed by Hari sir’s narration.”

“Singam 3 will break the regular 70-80 scene story structure. Hari sir has stitched t
ogether a massive 365 scenes in the film”

Suriya is all praise of director Hari’s energy level. “It’s his intense energy that drives the whole team. He will be constantly on his toes, running from pillar to post, to ensure things are in right place. This franchise has become a huge turning point in my career. The aggression and force of Duraisingam will be intact in the film. He will be the same fierce cop that you witnessed in the first two parts.”

He has again broken the ground in terms of the structure of screenplay. There won’t be a regular 70-80 scene story structure. Hari sir has stitched together a massive 365 scenes in the film.”

“Punchlines in Singam 3 are not force-fitted anywhere”

“I’m not sure if I would call it ‘punchlines’. The dialogues will be so relatable to the situations that unfold on screens. They are not force-fitted anywhere in the story. Each and every dialogue is written based on the emotional composure in the particular scene. It will be believable.”

Suriya also lauds Thakur Anoop Singh who is making his K’town debut in the role of a villain. “He has done a great job. He worked hard and for an important scene, he delivered his lines perfectly without going for prompting. The entire team appreciated his effort.”

On working with Anushka and Shruti Haasan

“Anushka is a really sweet actress to work with. She surprised me by presenting a clapboard with autographs of the entire crew during my third wedding anniversary back in 2010 on the sets of Singam. Also, she’s a very generous human being, who doesn’t shy away from helping others.”singam 3 s3 songs review

“Shruti Haasan is one of the versatile multi-talented artists down South. She keeps learning and dabbles in various things including producing independent music regularly despite her busy schedule.”

Ramya Krishnan and Senthil will have unique characterization in Thaanaa Serndha Koottam

Suriya is pretty much enjoying the working style of director Vignesh Shivan, who made an entertaining Naanum Rowdy Thaan as his second outing. “I’m learning new things every day on the sets. Vignesh’s fresh writing style will be loved by all. The way he has sketched his characters will be interesting. For example, I’m sharing screen space with senior actors like Ramya Krishnan and Senthil in the movie. But, you will get to see a different Ramya Krishnan and Senthil on screen. They both will have unique characterization.”

Singam 3 is all set for worldwide release in both Tamil and Telugu on February 9th.
