Kutramae Thandanai from director Manikandan of Kaakka Muttai fame breaks all clichés with an interesting crime thriller. How a common scenario with extraordinary thoughts can transform things is made interestingly with a rare filmmaking ability. It doesn’t contain any social message and is plainly narrates the life of a common man and his desire to live a happy life.  The consequences he faces to fulfill his desire is power packed into an engaging screenplay.

A limited cast, a well written script and execution should always be an effective watch for the audience and that’s how exactly director Manikandan has made Kuttrame Thandanai as. Without heroism or villainy, he has managed to keep  the screenplay running with thrilling moments with an out of the box concept.

Viddharth leads the pack along and has done his job perfectly well as a character suffering from tunnel eye vision. Kudos to the director for presenting the film without any cliches and practically from the perspective of a common man.

Ilaiyaraaja’s score holds the pulse of the movie throughout and as always deserves a special mention. Overall, Kutrame Thandanai is a neatly portrayed crime thriller sans commercial elements. The message director Manikandan gives us is what the film’s title is all about.
