50 glorious days of Ilayathapathy Vijay’s Theri

The Ilayathalapathy Vijay-starrer Theri completes 50 glorious days today, June 2nd. Theri’s collection exploits have been well-documented since its release. The film is reported to have grossed around 73 crores in Tamil Nadu while the total overseas gross is said to be around 44 crores. In Kerala, it is the 2nd best non-Malayalam performer after I, with a gross of around 16 crores. Theri has had a largely restricted run in the key Chengalpet territory but it has done stupendous business in Chennai city with a gross of over 10 crores.

These are fabulous figures by any yardstick and just reiterate Vijay’s hold and popularity all over the world. After the disappointing box-office performance of Puli, he has stormed back as the most influential star, among his contemporaries.

Vijay is currently shooting for his 60th film amid rumors that he is playing dual roles in it. He will be looking to consolidate after the blockbuster Theri.
