“Vijay’s sunglasses will be the trend-setting element in Theri”
Costume designer Komal Shahani, who is continuing her fruitful collaboration with Vijay in Theri after Thuppakki and Jilla, says Vijay’s sunglasses will be the trend-setting element of the film. “All the sunglasses were imported, and we used brands like Oliver Peoples, Ray-Ban and Ferrari, besides handmade reflectors from Spain. I travelled a lot, shopped in places like Los Angeles and Spain, to put together the right look for each avatar,” says Komal.
“For his police look, I customised and tailored the shirts that go with Canali pants. In the father’s role, he will be seen in much softer colours. We’ve used international brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, G Star and Diesel for Vijay’s jackets in the songs,” adds Komal.
Theri will be screened for the state-appointed tax exemption committee later this week. The business expectations are huge for the film as it might impact Kabali release, which is also produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. The film is all set for release on April 14th for the Tamil New Year weekend.
