A Miserly Offering!

Ever since Vijay Antony has been on the rise as a hero, his musical quality has notably dropped down. Pichaikkaran continues the slide, with just one track managing to click out of seven. It is not very nice to watch the see-saw changing sides, for a composer who has delivered lots of good numbers in the past.

Cast: Vijay Antony, Satna Titus, Bagavathi Perumal

Director: Sasi

Music Director: Vijay Antony

Production: Vijay Antony Film Corporation

Glamour Song: Singer – Velmurugan

Vijay Antony pulls a foot-tapping beat and added to that comes Velmurugan, who has been off the hook for a while. What we get as a result is a passable crowd-pleaser.

Nooru Saamigal: Singer – Vijay Antony

Ekanthiraj’s meaningful lyrics are the perk of this basically orchestrated tribute to mothers. Vijay does a neat job with the vocals.

Nenjorathil (Female): Singer – Supriya Joshi

Here comes the best track of the album, where we have Supriya Joshi delivering her best by making use of her charming voice. The sufi-ish interludes are a delight.

Unakaga Varuven: Singer – Janaki Iyer

Tiring pathos track which is equally uneventful. Skip without second thoughts.

Oru Vellai Sotrukaaga: Singer – Yasin

Another unimpressive song which has a strong sense of deja-vu throughout.

Nenjorathil (Male): Singer – Deepak Doddera

Though it would be fair to say that Deepak Doddera (MudhalMazhaiKaalam from 555 fame) has done a decent job on this reprise, it is still far from the female version.

Pichaikkaran Theme: Instrumental

A fairly well panned out theme which sways on the Gayatri mantra. Will help build up the intensity, come the movie.
