90ML is all about breaking the jinxes, being a bold attempt that works in parts and at others, gives a hard time for the audiences. Director Azhagiya Asura’s newfound attempt is in a shade of its own, sometimes overdosed in its narration. There are lags here and there, but it will surely engage the audience, given the taste of cinema which happens to be widely split up.

The film deals with five girls who all have different issues in their life. Oviya as Rita, comes in as the lifesaver, being a freakish woman who has her own rules to her own life. Oviya seems to have had a party enacting her role, enjoying it to the fullest. Right from the first frame, the girls and the guys in the apartment are in awe of her, befriending her and learning things from here. Three married girls and their problems lie as the main plot, with the director taking different routes to narrate their story in an engaging manner. 90ML takes a lot of wild turns in the second half, showing the gutsy side of the director to explore something risky.

90ML is a mix of glamor, double-sided dialogues, open talk and a little bit of emotion. The narration gets illogical at times but it just carries along with the tempo and the way in which the characters are displayed. 90ML, along with the feminism angle, makes one understand that the right to be free and freedom are two different horizons. A little more caution on understanding men and women in balanced manner could have made the film a must watch for all.

STR’s music is a plus point for the film, for the star, after Sakka Podu Podu Raja, once again proves that he has great talent as a composer. Though some of the songs act as speed breakers, the film is elevated by his work which is definitely laudable.

Overall, 90ML is about fun and frolic as there are not many portions which leave you tired. Certain topics like homosexuality, feminism and freedom can be understood in many ways as it has different ways of opinions. If you are strong enough to accept the difference, give it a shot this weekend.
