Yuvan Shankar Raja, along with Selvaraghavan and Na Muthukumar, has produced scintillating blockbusters in Kadhal Kondaen, 7G Rainbow Colony and Pudhupettai. Those albums will always be right up there and pick themselves when anyone makes a list of Yuvan’s best albums. Few months after Selvaraghavan started Aayirathil Oruvan, Yuvan Shankar Raja backed out of the project with bizarre reasons given. The fall-out immediately grabbed the attention of media but none had opened up about the issue whole-heartedly till date. Now, the good news is Selvaraghavan and Yuvan are coming back together for their next film which will have Simbu in the lead.[/nextpage]

Conversion to Islam
Freedom of religion is an individual’s right. But when it comes to celebrities, they have always been at
the receiving end for their choices by a section of the populace who confuse personal and professional life apathetically. That’s what happened when Yuvan announced his conversion to Islam, a religion he fell in love with.
“Yes, I follow Islam and I’m proud about it. Alhamdhulillah. My family supports my decision and there is no misunderstanding between me and my dad,” posted Yuvan on his defunct Twitter page.
Being the son of the Maestro who is known for his spirituality, Yuvan’s search for peace in another religion was a point of discussion for many. After some conspiracy theories blamed director Ameer for the same, Yuvan cleared the air by saying that he had got a direct call from Allah. The composer called it a spiritual experience, connecting his conversion with some instincts regarding his mother’s death.

uvan’s troubled marital relationships have grabbed the spotlight the most as far as his personal life is concerned. Yuvan tied the knot for the first time in 2005 with his girl friend Sujaya, a London-based Singer. The marriage was attended by the who’s who of Tamil cinema including Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, Shankar, Bharathiraja, SP Muthuraman and a host of politicians including Kalaignar M Karunanidhi, Arcot Veerasamy and Duraimurugan to name a few. Hey, did you know that AR Rahman presented a diamond ring for Yuvan at the occasion?
Three years later, the couple got divorce on mutual consent. In 2011, Yuvan entered wedlock with Shilpa Mohan, a doctor by profession. The marriage happened in Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati and was attended by his family and friends with Ilaiyaraja spearheading the event. However, the couple got separated very sooner than expected citing differences of opinion.
But all hell broke loose with Yuvan’s clandestine third marriage to Zafrun Nisar on January 1st, 2015 got under the media scanner for Ilaiyaraja’s conspicuous absence.
“The main problem with me is that I need to give more time to my relationship. I do minimum 10 films every year and I’m always preoccupied in my mind,” said Yuvan once in an interview about his marital life.
Tussle with Ilaiyaraja
Following his conversion to Islam, another topic which surfaced was how Ilaiyaraja was against Yuvan’s decision which created ruffles in the family. In an interview to the Times of India last year, Yuvan said, “We all live together but I don’t like his temper. I was very close to my mom and my older brother Karthik is very close to my father. He knows that I am a rebel and will do what I have to and that I will not listen to anybody. I am guessing that he doesn’t like how I decide everything on my own without any discussion with anybody.”
But, Bhavatharini, his long-time supporter in the family along with Karthik Raaja, cleared the air for once and all and put the rumors to rest with this brilliant post.

Over the past few days, this has been the talk of the tinsel town. That Yuvan Shankar Raja has backed out of ‘Masss’ and Thaman, who has composed a kuthu track, will take care of the background score. But, none from the team is letting down Yuvan, at least not yet. They’re still protecting him, from Venkat Prabhu to Premgi Amaren, and confirm that Yuvan is still their music composer for Masss. But insiders say as Suriya was not happy with Yuvan’s lethargy, Thaman came on board to compose a single track for the film. Miffed with the Suriya and Studio Green’s decision to go for another composer, it is heard that Yuvan Shankar Raja has decided his way out of the project which has not gone down well with Venkat Prabhu – his long-standing collaborator – who is finding ways to settle this amicably.
