5 Good Reasons to Watch Thozha: Movie Preview

PVP Cinema’s next production venture Thozha, an official remake of highly acclaimed and revered French drama The Intouchables, is all set for release this Friday. The film brings together Karthi and Nagarjuna, two important actors from Kollywood and Tollywood, on screen for the first time. Tamannah Bhatia will also be seen in a pivotal role.

1. Karthi and Nagarjuna’s bromance

The promos of the film, including the teaser, trailer and television spot videos, promise a heartwarming tale of bromance between Nagarjuna, who plays a quadriplegic billionaire, and Karthi, who plays a small-time crook-turned-caretaker. Tamannah essays the role of a secretary to Nagarjuna in the film. The song Thozha rendered by Anirudh Ravichander quietly summarizes the beautiful friendship shared between Nagarjuna and Karthi.

2. Karthi and Tamannah’s Successful Third-Time Pairing

Karthi and Tamannah have earlier paired together in Lingusamy’s road drama Paiyya and Siva’s Siruthai. They have reunited for the third time in Thozha and it has naturally raised the expectations of cinegoers. If posters of the duo are anything to go by, they assure a cute romance track on screen.

3. Top-notch Technical Team

The technical team of the film comprises of cinematographer PS Vinod and national award-winning editor Praveen KL. Both of them are best known for their stellar work in the Thiagarajan Kumararaja-directed Aaranya Kaandam. Important scenes of Thozha have been canned in France and a glimpse of the same was revealed to the viewers in the trailer, which promised a bevy of colorful visuals from the lens of PS Vinod. The music for the film is composed by Mollywood sensation Gopi Sundar, who has set benchmarks with his background score in a handful of Malayalam films in the recent past.

4. Proper Bi-Lingual Film

Although Thozha is directed by Vamshi Paidipally, it was made as a proper bi-lingual in Tamil and Telugu with equal importance given to both languages by the team. For example, Vivek provides comic relief in the Tamil version and comedian Ali was roped in for the Telugu version. Director Vamshi has also said that they filmed separate shots for both Tamil and Telugu versions to retain authenticity.

5. Cuckoo Director Raju Murugan’s Dialogues

Journalist-turned-director Raju Murugan impressed with his lines in his debut directorial Cuckoo, which tugged at the heartstrings of film buffs. Now, he has penned the dialogues for Thozha and it, surely, offers genuine hope for the film. Nagarjuna and Vamshi expressed their special thanks to Raju Murugan for writing the dialogues for the Tamil version in a recent press meet. Karthi heaped praise on Raju Murugan for keeping the Tamil flavor intact in his lines.

Thozha is all set for release on March 25th worldwide.
