2.0 grosses a whopping Rs. 94 crores worldwide on day one
Superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0 has collected a worldwide revenue of approximately Rs 94 crores on day one. In India, the movie has pulled in Rs 70 cr and the offshore gross is estimated at Rs 24 crores, with USA and UAE-GCC regions contributing the lion’s share.
The film has set a new benchmark in Chennai city with an opening day gross of Rs 2.64 crores, beating the previous number one total of Sarkar at Rs 2.37 crores. While Sarkar released for the Diwali festival, 2.0 hit theaters on a working day on November 29th. Whereas in TN BO, the top 2 spot remains with Thalapathy Vijay himself, Mersal (23 crores) and Sarkar (31 crores).
2.0 has also become the second highest opener for an Indian film (94 crores), only behind Baahubali: The Conclusion. It is worth mentioning here that the diwali release Sarkar opened up with 70 crores in worldwide BO.
