Vanamagan Songs Review

Review Overview

Damn Damn
Yemma Yea Alagamma
Silu Silu
Morada Morada
Pachai Uduthiya Kaadu
Vanam (Theme)

Skilfully engineered forest disc.

Vanamagan is a relishable soundtrack from Harris Jayaraj, marking his 50th album. The songs have their novelty and stock templates balanced out, and abide by the theme of the film. They should surely go higher once we get our eyes on the visuals. Solid stuff, HJ.

Cast: Jayam Ravi, Sayyeshaa

Music: Harris Jayaraj

Lyrics: Karky

Director: Vijay

Label: Sony Music

Damn Damn: Singers – MM Manasi, Sherin Shahana

A female-centric intro song that is neatly organised with the music and the vocals. There’s lots of scope for dance here, and we can expect Sayyeshaa to rule that part.

Yemma Yea Alagamma: Singers – Bombay Jayashree, Haricharan

Gold, absolutely. Everything is perfectly put together for this beauty, sung with panache by Bombay Jayashree and Haricharan. It’s awesome how the song effortlessly shifts between its high point and lilting verses. Our PICK.

Silu Silu: Singer – Vijay Yesudas

Though the tune is somewhat similar to some of Harris’ earlier compositions, its Vijay Yesudas to brings his best to the table to make this a lovely listen. Watch out for the second interlude for a surprise. Our next PICK.

Morada Morada: Singers – Benny Dayal, Krish

Old school tune and mix, the only thing to appreciate here is Karky’s work with the lyrics.

Pachai Uduthiya Kaadu: Singers – Abhay Jodhpurkar, Harini

Another mesmerising melody which does not go too high with it’s orchestration, and learns it’s place by being soft on the ears. Another Pick.

Vanam (Theme): Singers – Maria Roe Vincent, Flute Khamokhar

Harris saves his best for his last, unloading a lively tribe beat. This is a superb end to the album, finishing on a high. Our Final Pick.
