Raju Murugan talks about Joker
Journalist-turned-filmmaker Raju Murugan, who made an acclaimed debut in Cuckoo, is ready with his sophomore film Joker, which subtly talks about the problems of globalisation. “Nobody talks about poverty any more, maybe because everybody now has a smartphone. But do all of them have access to toilets?,” asks Raju Murugan.
The film stars Somasundaram, who made heads turn with his role in Aaranya Kaandam, as the main protagonist. “He’s middle-aged and poor, a simpleton who doesn’t understand why he doesn’t have the right to dismiss the corrupt politicians he has helped elect,” Raju says.
After teaming up with Santhosh Narayanan in Cuckoo, Raju Murugan has roped in Sean Roldan for Joker. The makers will release the single track Ennanga Sir Unga Sattam on April 1st.
