Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan to create history in Kannada
Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan, billed as India’s first motion capture film, is all set to be dubbed into Kannada to release next month. Kannada film industry has been following a self-imposed prohibition on dubbing films from other languages since 1965. However, the recent notice of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) annulling the ban has led the Dubbing Film Chamber to create history by dubbing other language films into Kannada after more than five decades.
Krishne Gowda, president of Dubbing Film Chamber, has confirmed that the post production work to dub Kochadaiiyaan into Kannada is already underway and the film will definitely release by the end of February. A separate audio launch is also being planned for the film. Meanwhile, other unions across the state have registered their dissenting opinions over CCI’s decision and appealed to the High Court to restore the ban on dubbed content.
