Review Overview

Adiye Azhage
Yaeli Yaeli
Paata Podunga Ji
Maangalyame
Eppo Varuvaaro

Soothing, evocative music!

Oru Naal Koothu is probably Justin Prabhakaran’s most innovative soundtrack in his career so far, with a handful of songs which impress at a stretch. The composer must be lauded for the importance he gives to his interludes, making you wait for it. Justin Prabhakaran is undoubtedly going from strength to strength with every album.

Adiye Azhage: Singers – Sean Roldan, Padmalatha

After Kannane Kanne in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Sean Roldan offers yet another inviting rendition in the form of Adiye Azhage. It really feels good to listen to songs which do not escalate into louder levels halfway. Great start to the album, this addictive beaut is our PICK!

Yaeli Yaeli: Singers – Sathyaprakash, Swetha Mohan

Austere but pleasing track which impresses thanks to the minimalistic orchestration which Justin infuses in. Sathyaprakash is damn good on the mic.

Paata Podunga Ji: Singers – Karthick, Padmalatha, Nelson Venkatesan

An Ilayaraja-ish song in terms of its instrumentations, which beam seamlessly through strings and drums. The fun element which lingers throughout is the USP.

Maangalyame: Singers – Richard, Gnana Anthony Daasan, Dr. Narayanan

A completely experimental number from Justin, where he goes crazy with the blend of authentic instruments along with rap and techno. The whacky pick of singers take it higher. Another PICK in the album.

Eppo Varuvaaro: Singer – Haricharan

The carnatic touch in this song plays out beautifully, with Haricharan’s near-flawless rendition aiding it so well. Justin succeeds in drawing the devotional vibrations into the scene, making it our PICK!
