Nenjam Marappathillai Songs Review

Review Overview

Good Bad and Ugly
Kannungala Chellangala
Maalai Varum Vennila
En Pondaati Oorukku Poita

Exciting, incredibly trippy disc!

The astounding pair of Selvaraghavan and Yuvan get back together for a wonderful soundtrack in Nenjam Marapadhillai. This is easily an account of the rapport that they share, as the music superbly complements the flavour of the film and the translates the theme as well. If someone asked you how to make film-friendly music which is catchy too, direct them to this album.

Cast: SJ Suryah, Regina Cassandra, Nandita Swetha

Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Direction: Selvaraghavan

Production: Gautham Menon and Madhan

Label: U1 Records

Good Bad and Ugly: Singer – Aishvarya Khumar

What starts off a lullaby-ish tune slowly turns into a goosebump-inducing orchestra, in all grandeur. Yuvan’s musical setup is on international range, as this is easily one of the best theme tracks to grace our playlist this year. Our PICK.

Kannungala Chellangala: Singer – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yuvan’s disjointed airy vocals on this bring in a slight charm, with most thanks to the alternatively residing synths. The lyrics don’t hinder the flow much, it’s just the tune which clicks very well.

Maalai Varum Vennila: Singers – Dhanush, Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yuvan brings a little bit of his typical self back into this one, and syncs it to the vocal part – which is really hallucinating as it is tough to figure out the difference between Dhanush and him. The ‘Ramsay’ hook is truly catchy, another good song. Our PICK.

En Pondaati Oorukku Poita: Singer – Yuvan Shankar Raja, SJ Suryah

What a fantastic song. Yuvan’s eclectic tune is a mix of drums, pipes and a horror element. With just few listens, it gets incredibly exciting – this is sure to go places. Our PICK for sure.
