A watchable, breezy romantic saga!

MOKK revolves around a love story between a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl. What makes it different from other films that have dealt about inter-religious love stories is that MOKK is completely packed with non-violent moments we usually see in other Tamil films. Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai is a watchable, breezy romantic saga for its harmless scenes and presentation.

Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai is an official remake of Mollywood’s Super Hit “Thattathin Marayathu”, where Nivin Pauly and Isha Talwar have played lead roles. Director Mithran Jawahar who previously helmed Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Kutty & Utthamaputhiran, has played safe once again by opting for a scene-by-scene remake from the original.

MOKK revolves around a love story between a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl. What makes it different from other films that have dealt about inter-religious love stories is that MOKK is completely packed with non-violent moments we usually see in other Tamil films. Walter Phillips (Vinod) falls in love with Isha Talwar (Ayesha) at first sight and how he manages to convey, convince and win over his love is what the film is all about. MOKK has all the emotional connects and the leads have done their job pretty well; especially Walter Phillips has to be applauded for his natural performance despite being a debutant.

Though dialogues are the key for romantic tales, Mithran Jawahar has managed it somehow with his simplistic, realistic phrases, unlike the film’s outdated play. GV Prakash’s songs are enjoyable for the film’s mood and Shaan Rahman’s BGM holds the pulse throughout the film. Vishnu Sharma’s filming deserves a special mention as well. Arjunan and Singamuthu have done adequately to bring smiles here and there. Manoj K Vijayan’s character as a police official who helps for hero’s love may be far-fetched from reality, but he will be seen in the entire movie as an interesting addition.

Overall, Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai is a watchable, breezy-romantic saga for its harmless scenes and presentation.
