Magalir Mattum Theme

Visibly different soundtrack.

In Magalir Mattum, Ghibran dives into fusions and jingles, experimenting more than usual in a completely film-centric soundtrack. Its better to first watch the film and then talk about his score, for the songs wont make full sense without knowing what is going to happen in the proceedings.

Cast: Jyotika, Oorvashi, Banu Priya, Saranya Ponvannan

Music: Ghibran

Lyrics: Uma Devi, Thamarai, Vivek, Bulleh Shah, Bramma

Direction: Bramma

Label: 2D Music

Adi Vaadi Thimiraa: Singers – Gold Devaraj

Ghibran brings in a lot of different sounds to make this one, but the end product is something really cool. While the rock base strengthens as the song progresses, the classical nadaswaram bits are a relish-worthy addition. Picking Gold Devaraj is another good choice over the usual gaana singers, this is our PICK!

Ghandaari Yaaro: Singers – Padmalatha, Anurag Kulkarni

Ghibran ascends the vocal pitches of his singers to the zenith here, and presents a likable rhythm in an anthem fashion. Good, but that’s about it.

Gubu Gubu Gubu: Singer – Karthi

Its great to see Karthi on the mic, with the actor also managing his part well. But in hindsight, this is a song on the lines of a nursery rhyme and its better to wait for the film and then talk about it.

Bullet Song (Dam Mast Qalandar): Singers – Yazin Nizar, Chennai Qawwali Kids

A variant of the famous track going by the same name, which has its excitement caught in parts. The kids in particular do a nice job.

Karu Karunnu: Singers – Namitha, Banupriya, Gold Devaraj

Simple intro track which does not garner a big show. Pedestrian.

Carratu Pottazhaga: Singers – Namitha, Oorvasi, Gold Devaraj

Oorvasi’s voice stands out in this jingle which is quite appealing, thanks to the naughtiness embedded.

Time Passukkosaram: Singers – Padmalatha, Saranya Ponvannan

Another quirky tune from Ghibran, much in tandem with the vocals. This one is the best out of all the three intro tracks.

Magalir Mattum Theme: Instrumental

Ghibran keeps the volume low and delivers an everyday theme, which just might find itself in the line of the film.
