A Celebration – Komban Theme

An adequately enjoyable rural OST!

While Komban does offer two good tracks which are sweet on the ears, the album sways to the quainter side when looked at as a whole. GVP comes up with a passable rural soundtrack.

Cast: Karthi, Lakshmi Menon, Rajkiran, Kovai Sarala, Super Subbarayan

Direction: Muthaiah

Production: Studio Greeen

Music: GV Prakash

Label: Green Audio

  • Kambikara Vetti: Singers – VM Mahalingam, Ananthu: A completely rural folk song to begin with. Paced on different beats, this sounds exactly like the ones you hear at the fair. Both the vocals and the lyrics pass muster and there is nothing to take home from this number
  • Appappa: Singers – GV Prakash Kumar & Shreya Ghoshal: The composer makes a good decision in bringing in Shreya Ghoshal to croon this melody alongside himself, thereby churning out a good listen. The instrumentations are basic, the aura is not new, but we still have a nice little song. Call it our PICK
  • Karuppu Nerathazhagi: Singer – Velmurugan & Maalavika Sundar: Here comes a peppy track which is instantly foot tapping. GVP uses a tried and tested tune, but the icing on the cake is Velmurugan’s vocals which bring a lot of energy to the scene. A special mention to the lyrics which occasionally draw a smile. Another PICK in the album
  • Mella Valanjadhu: Singer – Madhu Balakrishnan: A typecast emotional track which plays to the gallery. Madhu Balakrishnan’s rendition saves this pathos from turning into a skip-over
  • A Celebration – Komban Theme: An underwhelming theme tone which brims with heavy beats and sounds pretty archaic
