Review Overview

Kodi Parakkudha
Ei Suzhali
Ariraro
Sirikki Vaasam
Vettu Pottu

Familiar, yet fun package!

On familiar grounds, Kodi scores as a soundtrack that gets over the line. Santosh Narayanan stitches his style into the mass genre, and comes out with an album that should do the job. It could have been better, but at the same time, it cannot be written off.

Cast: Dhanush, Trisha, Anupama Parameswaran

Music: Santhosh Narayanan

Direction: Durai Senthilkumar

Lyrics: Vivek, Dhanush, Arunraja Kamaraj

Label: Sony Music India

Kodi Parakkudha: Singers – Arunraja Kamaraj, Dhanush

Montage hero celebration track that suffers from a Veera Thurandhara / Porrkalam hangover. Powerful lyrics yes, but the end result is inappropriate.

Ei Suzhali: Singer – Vijay Narain

This one has the capability to become everybody’s favorite from Kodi. A mischievious, unique instrumental setup, with Vijay Narain rocking his part. The lyrics by Vivek deserve a mention too, our first PICK is here.

Ariraro: Singer – KS Chitra

A sufficient lullaby crooned by the legendary singer Chitra. Musically minimal, but the effect of it all may interest some.

Sirikki Vaasam: Singer – Shweta Mohan, Anand Aravindaakshan

Shweta Mohan and Anand Aravindaakshan score a home run with this beaut of a melody. Santosh Narayanan’s deadly combination of quirky percussions in a simple setup works hugely in favour of the song. Another PICK!

Vettu Pottu: Singer – Shankar Mahadevan

Though there is nothing innovative on the musical front, what makes this intro number work are the energetic vocals of Shankar Mahadevan. Should be candy for the front benchers, they will pick this with a glee.
