Partly entertaining, partly middling!
Anand's debut effort is clearly targeted at B and C centres with some decent situational comedy and of course the double-meaning loaded crass jokes. The film falters at many junctures, but it has enough elements to satisfy the B and C audiences and the lion's share of the credit goes to the supporting cast.

Vijay Antony has a knack for selecting saleable scripts. His first two films Naan and Salim were decently made films and gained commercial success too. In India Pakistan, his third outing, he has churned out a comedy film that’s mostly entertaining.
The story is about how Karthick (Vijay Antony) and Mellina (Sushma Raj) fall in love though they despise the very sight of each other at first. They both rent a home for their office and share it because it’s expensive. Both of them are lawyers who are waiting for their first case. They decide upon an agreement that whoever gets the first case should stay in the home and the other person should vacate immediately. But the director suddenly thinks about how to take the story forward. So, when Vijay Antony lands his first case, Sushma gets the opposition of Vijay’s client as her first case. Now the agreement is revised. Whoever wins the case should stay in the home.
On the outset, India Pakistan has a substandard story-line, but the execution is where it manages to survive. The film picks up minutes before the interval thanks to Pasupathi and MS Baskar’s enjoyable antics. The scenes in the village are hilariously written and leave the audiences in splits for a fair amount of time. However, these are the only portions in the film that are worth sitting through. The rest of the story is cliched, run-of-the-mill and tiring to watch. There’s no consistency in the film’s momentum right from the beginning, While the love track is mediocre and annoying, the comedies are highly entertaining.
Vijay Antony still plays the same kind of role he essayed in Salim and Naan. Stoic and moody. He has tried his hands with comedy, but it barely works. Pasupathi, MS Baskar, Manobala, Jegan make the film worth watching with their superb timing and dialogue delivery.
