Geethanjali Selvaraghavan revives Selvaraghavan’s Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam

Geethanjali Selvaraghavan has revived Selvaraghavan’s long-pending project Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam. The screenplay for the film has been penned by Selvaraghavan but he has handed over the director baton to his wife since he wants to spend time with his kids. Selvaraghavan started a film titled Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam  nearly 6 years back with Karthi and Sandhya in lead roles. But, the project didn’t kick off for unknown reasons. Then, Selva moved on to his ambitious Aayirathil Oruvan with Karthi in the lead role.

Later, Selva revived Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam with Dhanush and Andrea in lead roles. Later, the project was shelved midway (even after some 40% shoot was completed) for reasons best known to Selva. In fact, if you place the stills of Dhanush and Andrea from IMNM next to Selvaraghavan’s Irandam Ulagam, you will hardly find any difference. Everyone, including us, believed that Irandam Ulagam was indeed Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam. Now, this news comes as a shocker to movie buffs who zealously follow Tamil cinema. What could be this new script that’s now masquerading as Maalai Nerathu Iyakkam? Only time will answer.
