Baahubali 2 North America rights: Unprecedented deal for an Indian film
Overseas distributor Great India Films has clinched an unprecedented deal to acquire the North American theatrical rights for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which includes Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions. This is a remarkable record for any Indian film in the United States.
The deal has been inked for a groundbreaking fee of $7 million, confirmed Sudhakar Reddy K of Great India Films. Now, the sequel has to make $10 million in the U.S. to break even. Great India Films is planning to release Baahubali 2 in a record 1000 screens in the U.S. It must be noted that the combined lifetime gross of Tamil and Telugu versions of Baahubali : The Beginning in North America stands close to $7.9 million.
