Accham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is a fabulous soundtrack from AR Rahman, very much in line with the heavily celebrated combo of Gautham Menon and STR. Contrary to most of his other albums, AYM clicks instantly and is sure to find a space for itself your driving playlist. Stuff worth rejoicing.

Thalli Pogadhe – Singers: Sid Sriram, Aparna Narayanan, ADK

A stunningly set up number this, from the combination of Sid Sriram and AR Rahman who ruled the roost with Ennodu Nee Irundhaal. This is why you believe in AR Rahman, for he keeps up your trust with this instant clinger which has an insanely addictive tune. Despite a slight rap mixup at the end, this goes on to become our PICK.

Raasaali – Singers: Sathya Prakash, Shashaa Tirupati

Sathyaprakash and Shashaa Tirupati blow this one across wonderfully as a medley of a jamming session along with a carnatic base. Along with engrossing lyrics, Raasaali is one of AR Rahman’s most rooted songs in the recent past. Look out for the first interlude, which is straight out of Marghazhi Mahautsavam. Our PICK, doubtlessly.

Showkali – Singers: ADK, Sri Rascol, Aditya Rao

At a time when party songs have grossly decreased in Tamil cinema, AR Rahman hits back in the company of two rappers in ADK and Sri Rascol. Though Showkali sounds very puzzling at first listen, it gets better and jots the jackpot with a non-stop rap showdown in the middle. Third PICK.

Avalum Naanum – Singer: Vijay Yesudas

A minimalistically orchestrated song belted with the vocals of Vijay Yesudas, who keeps himself in control throughout. Though the lyrics bring a lot to the table, the song might swoop down after a few listens.

Idhu Varai – Singers: Aditya Rao, Jonita Gandhi

One of those probable slow poisons here, packed with the demanding vocals of Aditya Rao. It’s the vocals that uphold this otherwise passable number.
